Hi! My name is Megan. I am a junior at Purdue University studying pharmacy and political science. I just wanted to tell you all a little bit about myself and what I do here at college.
This is my third year at Purdue. Usually students spend between 4 and 8 years in college depending on what they are studying. Sometimes they go to college even longer. Sometimes they only go to college for 1 or 2 years. The whole point of going to school after you graduate high school is to learn about the career you want to have when you grow up. You get some kind of degree, and then you are able to find a job doing something that you love.
College will probably take me 7 or 8 years because I want to someday be a pharmacist. If you don't know, a pharmacist is the person who checks prescriptions at hospitals, community pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens, and other places. Any time you take medicine the doctor prescribes you, a pharmacist has to check it to make sure you get the right medicine and directions.
I love Purdue! I have wanted to come here since I was in preschool. I live in a little house on campus and only come home for special breaks. Living there means that I have to cook my own meals and do my own laundry. It also means that I have to wake myself up in the morning to get to class. Classes at college are very different than classes in elementary, middle, or high school. Every day is different. Some days I have five classes and other days I only have one. They are located in several different buildings. Sometimes class is in a big lecture hall with 500 other students. Other classes can be as small as 12 people.
Now you know a little bit about my life at Purdue. I look forward to sharing more of it with you!
Megan
